Read about her journey to becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood, her future plans, and also some interesting little nuggets about  season 3 of Empire.

“This is my first time carrying a show and then going to carry a movie,” says Henson. “That’s a lot. It’s so stressful, and I had to really check myself because it’s so easy to take for granted when you get to a certain level. Like check yourself because people pray to be here.”

Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, & Janelle Monáe star in “Hidden Figures”

We often times hear about Neil Armstrong, whenever there is talk about our nations first trip to the moon. But rarely, if ever, do we hear about the group of African-American women who played a key role in making his voyage a reality.

Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughn, Kathryn Peddrew, Sue Wilder, Eunice Smith and Barbara Holley were a part of our nations space work force, giving NASA the mathematical power that they needed to “dominate the heavens.”

Hidden Figures is a movie based on the true, untold story of aeronautical pioneers Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughn and Kathryn Peddrew.  The movie takes place during the Cold War, Space Race, Civil Rights Movement, and our country’s battle for gender equality.
