4 Quick Ways to Make Any Bad Day Better

We’ve all been here. We get disappointing news, forget due dates, or sleep through all five of our alarms. Things happen, but it should only affect your mood in that moment, not for every single moment in that day.

Where would we be if we carried the weight of everything that’s ever gone wrong with the world? Probably stuck standing in place and frustrated. So why do we think it’s a good idea to dwell on everyday disappointments? It doesn’t add up.

You may feel like you’re doing something righteous, but holding on to negative emotions are unhealthy and in no way worth it in the long run.

You need to let go. Here’s some ways how:

  1. Reminisce

Sometimes it is good for you. Stop what you’re doing and reflect on a good or funny memory. Where were you? Who was there? Why was it memorable? Allow yourself to go back to that place and sit in the positive emotions from that memory for a few moments.

  1. Look at pictures of loved ones

I don’t know about you, but it’s really hard for me to look at pictures of my 2-year-old nephew in his pumpkin Halloween costume and not feel happy or at least laugh a bit.

Remembering those who know and love you can invoke feelings of security and contentment in you. Yes, something happened that you wish didn’t, but at the end of the day you know you are loved. So what else really matters?

  1. Focus on your breath

Paying attention to your breath is an indispensable tool for grounding yourself. You won’t need much time for this. Take two minutes, or more if you like (the longer the better), to inhale, exhale and follow the path of your breath.

  1. Be present

This step can be applied to many situations. When you are fully present in the moment, you don’t have room to focus on anything else. This isn’t compartmentalizing or burying emotions in your subconscious. It’s understanding that there is a time and place for everything, and the time for you to linger on negative emotions is up.

Every day won’t turn out the way you want, or the way you expect, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to remain stuck in the past.

If you take a moment to simply observe, life is always happening.  And it’s up to you to decide whether you want to be a part of your present or your past.

3 Things to do when you’re indecisive

What is something we can all say we’ve felt when indecisive? Confused? Conflicted? Lost? Unsure? Maybe these terms are starting to sound familiar.

When faced with big and small decisions, these feelings are common and should be expected. Change and transition don’t come without an element of fear, but this isn’t a bad thing.

Being afraid primarily helps us remember what is most important to us. Fear of making decisions or change should not immobilize you—it should steer you in the direction you need to go in.

  1. Make a decision.

Seriously, just make a decision. I know it seems like an oversimplified answer to a big problem, but you must realize that feeling indecisive won’t just go away overnight. It “goes away” when you make a decision.

Some people are thinking right now “but what if I make the wrong decision?” when they actually mean, “what happens if my decision takes me somewhere I didn’t want to go?”

This leads to the next thing to do when indecisive:

  1. Realize that your life is full of possibilities

I challenge you to reconsider how you think about making “wrong decisions.” Now don’t get me wrong, there are such things as bad decisions. For instance, committing a crime or participating in something that you know will negatively impact someone, is a definite bad decision. That’s not what I’m talking about here.

The real beauty of life is how full of possibilities it is. Each day we make hundreds, maybe even thousands, of decisions–from how we interact with people and the route we take to work to where we do our shopping. Believe it or not, all of these decisions are in constant play with each other to influence your present and future.

I like to think of it this way. Say you went to a frozen yogurt place and picked between two flavors. Now you just get to enjoy the taste of one of the flavors and not the other. Yes, you’ll be missing out in that moment, but you got a great, or maybe not so great, experience out of that one flavor.  Does this mean you made the wrong decision and should have picked the other flavor? No! The phrase “you live and you learn” is popular for a reason y’all.

  1.  Embrace uncertainty

Would life be half as enjoyable if we all knew what to expect from it, or if we all stayed in our comfort zones? I’m pretty confident that it wouldn’t be.

Living predictably seems like an incredibly monotonous existence. The best experiences and ideas happen when we break out of routine and try something new.

So the next time you find yourself feeling indecisive (because it will happen), don’t worry. Realize that those feelings are a part of life and keep it moving.

MaiCurls: DIY Rosewater Spray Gel !

Written By Maicurls

So I have been experimenting again! And I am excited to share my…

Flaxseed Spray Gel

  Flaxseed Spray Gel

Yes you read that right, DIY Flaxseed Spray Gel!

Now let me clarify, it is basically Flaxseed Gel that I dilute down to make it thin enough to pass through a spray pump and spray out evenly… I LOVE it!

I have a video up explaining my process (below)

How I make it

To make my mix I use my DIY Rosewater infused Flaxseed Gel recipe and then add extra

  • Rosewater*
  • Plain bottled water*

to thin it out. I also throw the mix in my blender to pulse it and that is it!

*To water it down you can use any liquid of choice. I choose to use Rosewater and plain water because I actually use them in my Flaxseed Gel recipe and because I my hair loves them.

You watch the video  of how I make my DIY Rosewater infused Flaxseed Gel below:

When making the spray, there are two things you need to make sure of:

  1. You are using a spray bottle that will evenly mist out the spray instead of “spit out” the gel.
  2. You have the right consistency so that the pipe of the spray will actually pickup the gel.

*It might take a bit of trial and error till you find the right container and get the right consistency for your spray.

Flaxseed Spray and Regular Gel

Flaxseed Spray and Regular Gel

When do I use the spray?

  • I like to use this on dry hair since it is gives a light hold so using it on wet hair would just further dilute down the gel.
  • I use it to help tame flyaways
  • Lightly holdup an updo
  • When I do not want to dampen my hair with too much products (e.g. when my hair is stretched)
  • When I want to have gentle hold on a twist-out with out resorting to using a lot of gel (e.g. if I need to touch up a twist-out but do not want to waste products on hair that will be washed in a day).

Do you use a spray gel? If so what do you use? I you try Flaxseed Spray Gel I would love to hear about your experiences!

What are Loc Extensions ?!?! (Video Inside)

Have you ever thought about locing your hair up, but you were afraid of the in-between stage

or that you wouldn’t like it? Well, there is a technique called loc extensions, that will give

you the appearance of mature locs, without it being permanent.  A lot of people get

discouraged from naturally growing locs, because no one really wants to go through that

“Baby Dread” phase, and there is a fear that you will have to shave all your hair off if you

don’t like it. Loc extensions put the consumers in charge of how long they want their hair to

be, and allows YOU to determine how long you want them in.

I’ve been doing some research on loc extensions and here is what I found…

Via HoneyLocs

Locs extensions are a great way to start your Locs, repair weak Locs, camouflage thinning areas, or spice them up with color without using chemicals.

Fusion Loc extensions is Honeyloc’s technique  which transforms your loose natural hair into beautiful natural looking locs or extends the length of your current Locs. You can start them with as little as 2 inches of natural hair depending on your hair texture. In addition, they can be installed  for those natural clients who are in transition.

Each Loc is created using 100% human kinky hair without the use of glue or adhesives.  Fusion Locs are designed to last for years allowing your own hair to grow with the loc extension.   A variety of colors are available and/or your Locs can be colored a few months after the installation.

How long does the Fusion Loc process take?
The installation process will vary depending on the length, size, and number of Fusion Locs determined for your desired look. Our experience shows the average time involved ranges from 10- 16 hours. A time estimate will be given at your free consultation. The service is performed over a two day period. In just 2 days you can have 2 years worth of Locs!

Fusion Loc pricing consists of:
1. The cost of your hair – Fusion Locs 100% human kinky hair.
2. Your service fee- installation fee which includes repair for the first 30 days.
3. Your service deposit- applied to your total service fee unless the service cancelled. This is a non refundable fee.

 * All of this depends on your stylist
Standard Pricing:  $300-$ 800 (depending on length)

Fusion Synthetic Loc extensions is Honeyloc’s answer for those clients who want to try a loc’d look but don’t  want to commit to the loc style. With Fusion Synthetic Locs you can add funky colors, extra length,  asymmetric styles, or a full head of locs…sky’s the limit!  They are installed without the use of glue or adhesives and should be removed within 45 days.  Pricing for a full head starts at $400 not including the hair. Individual extensions range frm $7-$10 per lock when creating styles and extending existing Locs.

Sometimes your Locs develop weak areas and need to be strengthened in those specific areas. Fusion repair fixes those weak  areas by attaching 100% human hair to your weak areas. Human hair can be matched to your natural hair color and colored along with current Locs.  The cost of repair is $5.00 per loc.

(trademark by My Hairitage Holistic Hair Care)
This is a wonderful option for loc wearers with thinning or balding. The “LOC WEAVE” is applied without adhesives, natural-looking, lightweight and breathable.

A fun way to add temporary color to your Locs without using chemicals. Red, purple, bronze, blue… Sky’s the limit.

* Naturalia says: If your interested in trying this technique, I would make sure that I price out

different places to make sure that your not being overcharged, and also ask your stylists about the upkeep.
