Must Have Sunglasses for Summer 2015

I must say one of my favorite summer accessories has to be a great pair of sunnies! Nothing completes a simple summer look better than a great pair of shades.

I’ve come to find with online retailers, like ASOS and LuLu’s, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a great pair of sunglasses. Don’t get me wrong I love designer brands like Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs, but I’m definitely not going to spend $300 bucks for every pair of sunglasses that I own.

I feel like this years trends include lots of fun colors, unique shapes, and vintage inspired frames. Check out my must have sunglasses for Summer 2015, and don’t forget to stop by your local Forever21 and H&M—they always seem to have ton’s of great affordable glasses!

Ladies, I would love to know what some of your favorite brands are and what eye-wear trends you plan on rocking this Summer, so do tell!

Chrisette Michele Interview Recap

Chrisette Michele is such an amazing artist, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her perform live and needless to say she blew me away. Lets be honest, most artists now a days sound completely different live than they do on their albums, but not Chrisette, shes one of the few artist that puts on an awesome live show! With that being said, a few weeks ago I was given a press pass to attend the Pose ‘N Post Symposium presented by Chrisette Michele & Rich Hipster, in my hometown of Richmond, VA. Of course I was super excited and ready to go, but unfortunately due to the venue flooding the event was cancelled. Well, a few days ago I got an email from her PR people letting me know that I would have an opportunity to interview Chrisette via telephone. I was already a fan, but being that this woman actually took time out of her busy day to call me and allow me to interview her, really says a lot! She is truly an amazing human being, super down to earth, and a woman of her word. So, check out my interview recap below with the lovely Chrisette Michele!

What Inspired you to start the Pose ‘N Post Symposium?

Chrisette explained that the the Pose ‘N Post Symposium was started because she was so inspired by the platforms and businesses created by some of her favorite YouTube vloggers, bloggers, and social media mavens. She went on to stress the importance of social media in today’s world and how it can really help individuals create a business for themselves by doing what they love.

What is the mission of the Pose ‘N Post Symposium, what will attendees take away after attending?

Chrisette stated that her mission is to “create an environment where like minded individuals can celebrate each other”. Attendees will be able to share tips, and success stories about their journey’s with one another, all while gaining some great insight into branding and building their social media presence.

Will you be adding anymore dates, what future plans do you have for the Pose’N Post Symposium?

Due to the overwhelming response she’s had to all of the show dates, a 2nd leg of the tour will be added with additional dates and locations, so make sure to check out for more details on upcoming dates. All the dates on the current leg of the tour have been sold-out; Chrisette is really excited with the response she has gotten thus far from vloggers and bloggers!

How did the Rich Hipster label come about, and what can we expect to see from Rich Hipster in the future?

The Rich Hipster label was inspired by everyday people, ( thats typically where she finds most of her inspiration) through meeting and conversing with people on a daily basis. Chrisette Michele went on to explain that Rich Hipster is “more than a label, but a lifestyle”. We can expect lots of dope things from the Rich Hipster brand in the future including new artist like her brother Lem Payne, the label will also be hosting lots of charity events, summer BBQ’s, music showcases, etc.

Are you currently working on new music, if so what can we expect from this album?

A new album is in the works, so fans get ready! Chrisette stated that while she has no name yet for this new album, “it is highly inspired from old soul- singers” and you’ll definitely be able to hear that influence throughout the record!

Where do you find inspiration when writing new material, and where do you like to record?

Chrisette finds inspiration in everything from friends & family, to nature, and the world we live in. She loves to record new material with just herself, a piano, and without the use of studio engineering.

It was such a pleasure speaking with the beautiful Chrisette Michele, ladies be on the look out for the Pose ‘N Post Symposium, it could be making its way to your city next!

Beach Hair, Looks, and Inspiration

Happy spring ladies–I feel like I’ve been waiting so long to say those words! With that being said, let’s talk beach hair, hats, and scarves. I’ve always loved the beach, and being that I live in a state where it’s not even two hours away, I make frequent trips throughout the summer. Having a low-maintenance hairstyle is a must on my beach days, and my go to styles are braids and buns. They tend to be the easiest to maintain, and I don’t like to over-manipulate or put a lot of stress on my hair–especially anytime water comes into play.

I call this my tuck and roll bun, because that’s literally all I did!

Besides low maintenance hair styles, I’m also a huge fan of hats! I wear hats all year long, so summer is no exception. Check out stores like H&M, Forever21, and Target — they always have a great selection of fedoras and straw hats, which are perfect for beach days! Anytime I blow my hair out and I’m near water a hat is within arm’s reach; I mean, I love the beach and all, but salt water and natural hair don’t mix. The closer I get to the water the bigger my hair gets, so I’ve learned that a hat is much-needed on days when I actually want to keep my blowout fresh! I always buy my hats a bit oversized, so that I’m able to tuck all of my hair away without exposing it to the water or the sun, which can also be damaging. So make sure to keep those hats close by this summer, believe me, they will come in handy!

This hat is more than 10 years old, I purchased it from Macy’s for about $25 bucks.

Last but not least let’s talk scarves. I just love a nice vintage head scarf! I cannot stress this enough ladies: please don’t sleep on thrift stores! I purchased both of these scarves (pictured below) for about $3.There’s always a huge selection of scarves and hats at thrift and vintage stores, so take advantage of them. One of the main reasons I love thrifting is because I know that I won’t run into anybody wearing the same thing as me. So, grab a vintage scarf and some big shades, and give us 1960’s chic! I’m a plain Jane when it comes to how I actually wrap my scarves; I haven’t really mastered all the many ways to wear them, so ladies, please share how you plan to style your scarves this summer.

A Spring Fling with Fringe & Floral

With spring quickly approaching, it’s time to start building up those wardrobes, ladies! We can finally start putting away all of our winter layers in order to make room for our new spring pieces. One of my favorite trends this spring has to be fringe. I have always been a huge fan of all things fringe, I mean, who doesn’t love a nice statement piece? And I’ve never seen anything with fringe not make a statement.

I also love a nice floral print piece, whether it’s a nice flowy dress or a dope pair of floral print platforms; the right floral piece can create such a nice classic look. I love mixing hard and soft pieces together, and what goes better with a tough leather skirt than some floral print platforms? Don’t be afraid to venture out and mix pieces together that you wouldn’t typically pair together! I find that I create my best looks whenever I really go against the grain and try something different.

Wearing leather during the spring and summer months is normally a fashion don’t, but this season please make it a fashion must! Take a chance and throw on a leather skirt (with fringe) and a pair of Chucks for a cute casual look when you’re not in the mood to wear heels.
