Although Maya Angelou is no longer here with us on earth, her words will forever have an impact on those who take the time to let her artistry permeate into their souls.  I first fell in love with her work back in middle school, when I took on the task of performing Phenomenal Woman.  I was only 12-years-old at the time, but I spoke her words, as if I was a 30-year-old woman who had been through some things.

And, that is why Maya Angelou was such a genius. She created art that was relatable, powerful, and insightful to many.

In Apple’s new campaign “Shot on iPhone,” we hear the late, great, Dr. Maya Angelou reciting her poem The Human Family in congruence with images that were taken in all parts of the world on the iPhone.  The message of this poem is so important for our current social climate because she stresses that “We are more alike my friends, than we are unalike.”

So, why are we fighting one another?

Check out the video below, and let me know your thoughts on my question.
